Thalay Valley is in Ghanche, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan, on the bank of Shyok River, The Shyok River join Indus River at Keris about 30 kilometers west of Thalay. Thalay has sixteen big and small mohallah: Daltir, Baltoro , Brooqpa Baltoro, Gongma Baltoro, Harangus, Chundu, Taso, Parangus, Haltagari, Yarkhor, Daltir, Gagurik , Burdas, Khasumik, etc. 

The location of house is east side,  west site Karis valley is located,  the north side Shigar valley is located and Daghini/Balghar are located to the south.

Thalay Valley is 40km long while its width is around about 20km.about 35km away on the northwest from the district headquarters Ghanche (Gilgit Baltistan), and 110km from Skardu city and situated at 2,647m above sea level and falls in the single cropping zone. 

The main occupation of Thalay Valley people is agriculture.

Reach to Thalay valley

Thalay valley is at 1.5 hours a distance from khaplu. If you want to go to thalay valley, so i prefer to you use 4*4 vehicle. Every car go to thalay valley but 4*4 is best. Because many  people go to thalay brook from Thalay valley. The Thalay brook is the best tourist point and many people want to go there.

Education

In the Thalay valley the education getting awareness   is started approximately 100 year ago. The first school is Thalay valley is Islamic school . After 1945 the few parents sent their children to school.

 They were 8–12 in number from village Harangus, Yarkhor and Baltoro. One of them became successful to get his goal. Behind his success was his mother. His mother was not educated but encouraged and helped him to get education. 

Haji Ali Shah from Harangus Thalay was him. He then battled to bring education to Thalay. There was no school at first. New educational institutions are formed quickly as a result of his struggle.
