Geography

Skardu Valley is located at 7,500 feet above sea level, at the confluence of the Indus and Shigar rivers. The Karakoram and Himalayan ranges surround its sixteen thousand square kilometers of land.

The place is also home to the 2nd biggest glacier outside the cold regions, the Baltoro Glacier, which is a famous hiking landing place.

K2 Base Camp

There is a  Buddha rock statue surrounded by miniature rock carvings. The rocks are located on the sadpara road 3 km away from the sadpara nullah.

The rock cut 8th century AD. The carvings have attracted a number of researchers who say that it dates back to the best Tibetan empire. 

The researchers say that the drawings are of stupas and the experiences of the people. Moreover, the language written in the texts is the Kharoshti language of the Buddhist people of Khandara. 

Due to all these factors, it is a main attraction for history enthusiasts.

Satpara Lake:

Satpara Lake is 8 kilometers which makes almost 20 mines drive north of Skardu.

The lake is located in the center of the hills, which are covered with Snow, and the water is crystal clear which makes it even more beautiful when the Icy Mountains are mirrored in clear blue water. Satpara Lake supplies water to almost all parts of Skardu and is situated at 8650 feet. 

The height where this lake is situated makes it even more breathtaking and is considered to be one of the most scenic lakes in Pakistan. 

Moreover, there is a ravishing story that is connected to the lake that the city people think that there is a gold mine at the base of the lake which is why the water seems to shine all day long.

Shangrila Resort

This resort is come across the banks of Upper Kachura Lake and offers panoramic sights of the nearby hills. The resort is a famous spot for picnics and boating.

Culture and Traditions

Skardu Valley is home to a various range of cultures and traditions. The city population is firstly Balti, and their language, Balti, is widely talked about in the region.
